Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Gurgaon section of the Dwarka Expressway on March 11, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Saturday. “The Prime Minister will inaugurate the Dwarka expressway on March 11, subject to clearance from the department,” CM Khattar said, referring to NHAI.

As per officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), approximately 99% of the work on the Gurugram section of the expressway has been finished, with around 90% completion in the Delhi segment.

This visit will be the PM’s second to Haryana in a month. Previously, on February 16, he visited Rewari to inaugurate the foundation stones of AIIMS and the Gurugram Metro Rail project.

All you need to know about Dwarka Expressway

The Dwarka expressway will connect Dwarka in Delhi to Kherki Daula in Gurugram. The Haryana section of the expressway, amounting to Rs 9,000 crore, covers an 18.9-km stretch from the border to Kherki Daula. Meanwhile, the 10.1-km segment in Delhi is presently undergoing construction.

The development of the Dwarka Expressway is advancing through four phases, encompassing various sections from Shiv Murti in Mahipalpur to Bijwasan (5.9km), Bijwasan ROB to Delhi-Haryana border in Gurugram (4.2km), Delhi-Haryana border to Basai ROB (10.2km) in Haryana, and Basai to Kherki Daula cloverleaf interchange (8.7km).

This extensive project entails significant investment, with the first phase in Delhi estimated at Rs 2,507 crore, the second phase at Rs 2,068 crore, the third phase at Rs 2,228 crore, and the fourth phase at Rs 1,859 crore.

The Dwarka Expressway is designed to feature an elevated eight-lane access-controlled expressway, a pioneering concept in the country. 

Additionally, it incorporates a distinctive 34-meter wide elevated road supported by single pillars spanning a length of 9km.
