Mumbai Trans Harbour Link Road Inauguration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Atal Setu aka the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), today, marking the inauguration of the country’s longest sea bridge. The PM embarked on a journey across the sea-bridge from INS Shikara in Colaba to Navi Mumbai.
Notably, toll rates for passenger vehicles on the Sewri-Shivaji Nagar (Ulwe) stretch have been revised, with a fee of Rs 200, and for the 2.5km Shivaji Nagar-Gavhan stretch, it is set at Rs 50. This adjustment deviates from the previous flat toll announcement of Rs 250 for the entire stretch, and for a return trip, the toll will be 1.5 times the one-way charge. Commuters can now access the 21.8km sea bridge, which includes interchanges at Sewri in Mumbai and Shivaji Nagar, Jassi, and Chirle on National Highway 4B in Navi Mumbai.
The sea bridge officially opens to commuters on January 13. Prior to the inauguration, the PM held a grand roadshow. In addition to the sea bridge inauguration, PM Modi inaugurated the Nashik Youth Festival.
Here are the latest updates:

"I thank the government of Japan and remember late Japanese PM Shinzo Abe. Both of us had vowed to complete the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link project," the PM said.

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) is a dual-carriageway bridge spanning 22 kilometers with six lanes, crossing the Thane Creek in the Arabian Sea. It links Sewri in the island city of Mumbai to Chirle in the Raigad district on the mainland.
Comprising a 16.5-kilometer sea link and viaducts on land at both ends, the MTHL has a combined length of 5.5 kilometers.
According to MMRDA records, an average of 5,403 workers and engineers were involved in daily efforts towards completing the project since its commencement in mid-2018, IE reported.
In terms of entry points and restrictions, multi-axle heavy vehicles, trucks, and buses heading towards Mumbai are barred from using the Eastern Freeway. Instead, they are directed to take the Mumbai Port-Sewri Exit (Exit 1C) and utilize the MBPT Road near ‘Gadi Adda’ for further movement.
Additionally, certain vehicles are prohibited from entering the MTHL, including motorcycles, mopeds, three-wheelers, autos, tractors, animal-drawn vehicles, and slow-moving vehicles.
According to police statements made on Wednesday, the maximum speed limit for four-wheelers, including cars, taxis, light motor vehicles, minibuses, and two-axle buses, on the MTHL will be 100 kmph. However, there will be speed restrictions of 40 kmph during the ascent and descent of the bridge to enhance safety.
After more than seven years since its foundation was laid, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), the country's longest sea bridge, during his day-long visit to Maharashtra on Friday.
