Union Minister Bhagirath Choudhary has stressed the importance of improving the conditions of infrastructure in Mizoram to boost agriculture and tourism. During his visit to Mizoram, Choudhary highlighted that despite the opportunities of marketing Mizoram’s agricultural products across the country, the shortage of proper road infrastructure and communication poses a major obstruction. The Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare also mentioned the significance of organic farming and its rich natural resources.
Lack of proper Infrastructure and Railway lines
The minister stated, ”Lack of road infrastructure and railway lines are affecting farmers in Mizoram.” He appealed to the State and Centre to collaborate and address this issue effectively. ”Both inter-state and intra-state route networks in Mizoram must be improved for uplifting the farmers economically and developing terrorism,” Choudhary added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched several projects worth Rs 55,600 crore for the betterment of the Northeast region. The world’s longest bi-lane Sela tunnel was also inaugurated by him. With the help of the tunnel, year-round connectivity to Tawang of Arunachal Pradesh was made possible. All the projects that were announced had covered Nagaland, Sikkim Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh in the development plan.
