The roads in Delhi are about to get a facelift as Minister for Public Works Department (PWD) Atishi has given her approval to projects focussed at strengthening and upgrading the roads in west Delhi, as per an official statement released on Sunday.

Which roads will be upgraded?

As per the release, the upgraded roads will encompass the service lanes of Rohtak Road (NH-10) from Metro pillar 109 to 273, Road No. 41 and 77, as well as the stretch from Paschim Puri Chowk to New Slum Quarters in Multan Nagar. As she approved the projects, Atishi said the approved projects in west Delhi “exemplify the Delhi Government’s commitment to providing world-class road infrastructure for the citizens of Delhi.”

Atishi emphasised that the upgradation of roads and strengthening them will bring significant benefits to the residents of these areas, alleviate traffic congestion in the vicinity, and enhance connectivity between main roads and colonies. She further mentioned that these roads were built and improved a considerable time ago, leading to a gradual deterioration in their condition over time.

Atishi stated that the Public Works Department (PWD) has conducted a comprehensive assessment of the roads with the assistance of experts and has received instructions to commence the road upgrading process. The minister also instructed that every effort should be made to avoid inconvenience to commuters during construction, and adherence to global standards for high-quality roads is imperative.
