Amid heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh, 42 roads have been closed for traffic movement, officials have said.

The meteorological department reported the highest rainfall of 78.5 mm. Palampur received 68 mm of rain, followed by Baijnath with 60 mm, Mandi at 58.4 mm, Guler with 56.4 mm, Dharamshala at 53 mm, Kufri with 51.4 mm, and both Shimla and Jogindernagar recording 50 mm each. Naina Devi registered 48.6 mm, Kangra 46.6 mm, Nagrota Suriyan 46 mm, Manali 28 mm, Jubberhatti 23.2 mm, Bhuntar 23 mm, Solan 22 mm, Sarahan 21 mm, and Poanta Sahib 20.4 mm.

Roads closed in Himachal Pradesh

According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), the highest number of road closures was reported in Shimla with 18 roads shut down. Kangra saw 10 closures, Mandi had nine, Kullu faced three, while Bilaspur and Sirmaur each had one road closed, all due to heavy rains, landslides, and flash floods. 

The rains have affected 53 power and water supply schemes across the state, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC).

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, Himachal Pradesh has experienced an 18 per cent rainfall deficit, receiving 561.8 mm of rain compared to the average of 686.5 mm.

Officials reported that 169 people have died in rain-related incidents during the current monsoon season, with 30 individuals still missing. The state has incurred losses amounting to Rs 1,327 crore.

Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the lowest temperature at 7.9 degrees Celsius, while Una was the hottest, with a maximum of 34.4 degrees Celsius.
