Haveri MP and Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday and formally requested him to upgrade the Ilkal-Karwar state highway to a National Highway.

In addition to the highway upgrade request, Bommai discussed the implementation of the Gajendragad Ring Road in Ron Taluk and the Gadag Ring Road projects. Chikballapur MP Dr Sudhakar was also present at the meeting, underscoring the collaborative effort to enhance Karnataka’s infrastructure.

On June 27, Nitin Gadkari, along with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and senior officials, reviewed the progress of ongoing national highway projects in Odisha. Gadkari’s office released a statement confirming the review session, which also included Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami met Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss ongoing and proposed road connectivity projects in Uttarakhand. Dhami emphasized the crucial need for improving road infrastructure in the state and requested notifications for six routes that were upgraded to national highway status in principle in 2016.

Nitin Gadkari, who has been instrumental in driving India’s infrastructure development, recently assumed charge as the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways for the third consecutive time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His continued tenure signals a commitment to advancing the country’s road and highway projects, which are vital for economic growth and regional connectivity.

These meetings and discussions reflect the ongoing efforts by various state leaders and officials to collaborate with the central government in enhancing transportation infrastructure, aiming for long-term benefits for their respective states and the nation as a whole.
