Heavy rains and landslides have caused 76 roads to be closed and 69 water supply projects to be disrupted in Himachal Pradesh. Moreover, the current weather has an impact on 34 electricity supply schemes. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a decline in the intensity of rainfall from July 8.

The Himachal Pradesh government’s Additional Chief Secretary, Onkar Chand Sharma, gave an update, saying, “The monsoon has arrived in the state.” Heavy rains have so far caused 115 road closures, 212 electrical transformers to malfunction, impacting power delivery, and 17 water supply schemes to malfunction.” According to Sharma, the administration has taken proactive steps to tackle the situation, saying, “We have mobilized resources and equipment to various locations and are working to clear roads swiftly.”

Around 115 roadways were closed and 212 energy schemes were disrupted because the monsoon came earlier in the state on July 4. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) has been informed about the blockage of the roadways and disruption on June 27.

Sharma mentioned, “I appeal to all tourists to adhere to local advisories and avoid rivers and streams.” Sharma also asked visitors to proceed with utmost caution. Even in the summer of the previous year, the state reported over thirty drowning deaths.”

Sharma emphasized the government’s readiness in his reflections on the difficulties of the previous year, saying, “Despite 400% excess rainfall last year, our preparedness helped save lives.” The IMD has predicted a typical monsoon this year, and although we expect ideal circumstances, the state government is nonetheless on guard and ready to face any difficulty.”
