Nestled in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, the Nilgiri Mountain Railway is renowned for its scenic route that winds through lush green valleys, dense forests, and misty mountains.
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) stands as one of the most picturesque destinations in the country, earning UNESCO’s prestigious World Heritage Site status in 2005. Spanning from Mettupalayam to Ooty, this scenic route encompasses nine stations along its path: Mettupalayam, Kallar, Hillgrove, Ketti, Lovedale, Coonoor, Wellington, Aruvangadu, and Udagamandalam (Ooty).
Featuring a total of approximately 250 bridges, 208 curves, 16 tunnels, and 15 ROB/RUBs, the journey offers a captivating blend of natural beauty and engineering marvels. Four sets of trains operate along this route in both directions, providing travelers with ample opportunities to experience the enchanting landscapes of the Nilgiri Hills.
