Train movement was successfully restored on a track in the Western Railway’s Ratlam division on Friday, approximately 12 hours after three wagons of a goods train carrying petroleum products derailed. Train traffic resumed around 10 AM, impacting the schedules of 14 to 15 trains.
Incident Details
The incident occurred on Thursday night when the three wagons of the goods train, which was en route from Rajkot to Bakania-Bhouri near Bhopal, derailed near a railway yard on the Delhi-Mumbai route. The derailment took place at around 10 PM near E Cabin, approximately one kilometer from the Ratlam railway station.
In response to the derailment, Ratlam Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Rajnish Kumar has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Public relations officer Khemraj Meena confirmed the probe to PTI.
Additionally, an official reported that train traffic on the down line for routes to Ujjain and Kota has also been restored, ensuring the smooth resumption of services for passengers.
