In anticipation of the upcoming monsoon season, Shobhan Chaudhuri, General Manager of Northern Railway, held a critical review meeting with departmental heads and Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) at the Northern Railway headquarters in New Delhi. The focus was on enhancing safety, punctuality, and operational efficiency across the network.

Monsoon Preparedness

With the monsoon season fast approaching, special attention was given to preparedness to mitigate challenges posed by heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions. Chaudhuri directed all departments to thoroughly assess infrastructure, equipment, and operational readiness to handle monsoon-related disruptions. Ensuring the railway’s infrastructure can withstand the harsh weather is paramount to maintaining smooth operations.

Electrical Safety and Infrastructure Development

The General Manager emphasized the importance of electrical safety on tracks and in relay and panel rooms to ensure error-free train movements. Infrastructure development was another key area of discussion, focusing on ongoing projects, maintenance of existing facilities, and implementing new technologies to boost efficiency and capacity.

Minimising Train Delays

Addressing the issue of train delays due to crew changes, Chaudhuri instructed the divisions to streamline crew change processes to minimize detention times at crew changing points. This measure aims to enhance punctuality and reduce delays, providing a more reliable service for passengers.

Commitment to Safe and Efficient Services

With the implementation of these strategic measures, the railway aims to navigate the monsoon season effectively while maintaining high standards of service and safety.

The meeting underscored Northern Railway’s proactive approach in ensuring readiness for the monsoon, enhancing operational efficiency, and prioritizing passenger safety and satisfaction.
