To cater to the increasing demand during the upcoming festive season, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the operation of 26 special trains over the next two months. These trains will be running to manage the anticipated rush during festivals such as Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, a statement from NFR confirmed on Sunday.

“NFR has proposed 26 special trains with a total of 254 trips this year for the festive season,” the statement said. The additional services will operate from October 1 to November 30, ensuring smoother travel for passengers.

Compared to last year, the NFR has nearly doubled the number of special trains and trips, a significant increase to meet the demand during the holiday period. These special services will connect major destinations, including Amritsar, Bengaluru, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Kolkata, Anand Vihar, and Shri Ganganagar.

The initiative also aims to boost connectivity within the northeastern region, covering key locations such as Agartala, Naharlagun, Silchar, New Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, and Katihar, the statement added.
