The Mumbai Division of Central Railway (CR) has announced a mega block on its suburban sections today to facilitate essential engineering and maintenance work. The block will impact services on the Harbour Line and between Vidyavihar and Thane on the 5th and 6th lines.
Impact on Vidyavihar-Thane Lines
On the Vidyavihar-Thane lines, the block will be in effect from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM. During this time, Down and Up mail/express trains arriving at or departing from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Mumbai will be diverted to the Down and Up Fast lines, respectively, at Vidyavihar station. They will then be rerouted to the 5th and 6th lines at Thane station. Passengers can expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes.
Harbour Line Disruptions
On the Harbour Line, the block will affect the Up Harbour Line from 11:10 AM to 4:10 PM and the Down Harbour Line from 11:40 AM to 4:40 PM. Services on the Down Harbour Line to Vashi/Belapur/Panvel departing from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai from 11:16 AM to 4:47 PM, and to Bandra/Goregaon from 10:48 AM to 4:43 PM will be suspended. Similarly, on the Up Harbour Line, services departing from Panvel/Belapur/Vashi to CSMT Mumbai will be suspended from 9:53 AM to 3:20 PM, and trains from Goregaon/Bandra to CSMT Mumbai will not operate from 10:45 AM to 5:13 PM.
Special Services and Alternative Travel Options
Special services will be in operation between Kurla and Panvel at a 20-minute frequency during the block period. The last local train on the Down Harbour Line for Panvel will depart CSMT Mumbai at 11:04 AM, while the last for Goregaon will depart at 10:22 AM. The first local after the block for Panvel will depart CSMT Mumbai at 4:51 PM, and for Bandra at 4:56 PM. On the Up Harbour Line, the last local before the block for CSMT Mumbai will depart Panvel at 9:40 AM, and from Bandra at 10:20 AM. The first local after the block for CSMT Mumbai will depart Panvel at 3:28 PM, and from Goregaon at 4:58 PM.
During the block period, Harbour line passengers are advised to travel via the main and western lines from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
