Local train services on the Harbour Line of Central Railway in Mumbai faced significant disruption on Saturday morning due to a fault in the overhead equipment between Mankhurd and Vashi stations. The issue, which occurred around 7:30 am, led to a complete suspension of services for approximately two hours, with repairs being completed by 9:30 am.

As a result, trains resumed operation but were running over 30 minutes late, according to commuters. The Harbour Line connects Mumbai with its satellite city Navi Mumbai via a railway bridge over a creek between the two stations.

Rajnish Goyal, divisional railway manager of Central Railway’s Mumbai division, announced the disruption on social media, stating, “We regret to inform you of a disruption in services due to a broken Overhead Equipment (OHE) between Mankhurd and Vashi on the Harbour Line.”

Tower wagons were dispatched to address the problem, and the repair was successfully completed by 9:30 am. During the disruption, passengers were permitted to travel on the Trans-Harbour line with the same tickets and passes, Goyal added.

The Harbour Line is crucial for suburban connectivity, linking Navi Mumbai with the Western and Eastern suburbs of Mumbai from south Mumbai, and serves lakhs of passengers daily.
