Western Railway (WR) has announced that speed restrictions will be imposed between the Ram Mandir, Goregaon, and Malad sections as part of ongoing construction work for the 5th and 6th lines. The restrictions, aimed at facilitating safe construction, will affect suburban services starting from 30th September 2024, with full service restoration expected by 4th October 2024, except during block periods.

30 km/h speed limit across all four lines

A speed limit of 30 km/h will be enforced on all four lines—Up and Down Local, as well as Up and Down Through lines—in the affected section. The speed restrictions will be relaxed in a phased manner, with suburban train services gradually resuming normal schedules. However, approximately 150 to 175 suburban trains will be cancelled during this period.

With WR operating a total of 1,394 services across the Mumbai suburban section, the cancellations are expected to impact thousands of daily commuters. Additionally, the unavailability of the Goregaon Loop Line on Monday, 30th September, will result in the cancellation of all four fast Goregaon morning services for that day. WR has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused and assured passengers that the work is being undertaken to improve journey experiences in the long run.
