The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project, spanning 508 km across Gujarat, DNH) and Maharashtra, continues to make steady progress. Out of the total corridor, 352 km lies in Gujarat and DNH, while 156 km runs through Maharashtra. The project features 12 thematically designed stations including Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi in Gujarat, and Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Viaduct and Bridge Works Near Completion

Viaduct construction has reached 317 km, with pier works completed for 396 km and pier foundations laid over 407 km. Girder casting stands at 337 km. Bridges over 17 rivers including Par, Purna, Mindhola, Ambika, Auranga, Venganiya, Mohar, Dhadhar, Kolak, Vatrak, Kaveri, Kharera, Meshwa, Kim, Darotha, Daman Ganga, and Vishwamitri have been completed. In addition, eight steel bridges, the first 100 m span of a 2×100 m long steel bridge, and five pre-stressed concrete bridges have been completed.

Installation of noise barriers on the viaduct is underway in Gujarat, with around 3,90,000 barriers installed along 195 km of the corridor. Track bed construction has progressed over 198 km in Gujarat, and welding of rails on the viaduct to form 200 m-long panels is ongoing. Installation of overhead equipment masts (OHE) is also in progress, with over 1,600 OHE masts installed between Surat and Bilimora stations covering approximately 40 km.

Tunneling and Station Construction Underway in Maharashtra

Work on a 21 km tunnel between BKC and Shilphata in Maharashtra is progressing, with a cumulative tunnel heading of 4.5 km achieved from Shilphata and two concurrent faces from the ADIT portal using the New Austrian Tunneling method (NATM). Excavation of seven mountain tunnels in Palghar district has reached a cumulative heading of 2 km out of 6 km.

Structural work for all eight stations in Gujarat has been completed, and interior finishing works are advancing rapidly. In Maharashtra, work has started on all three elevated stations, with the base slab at Mumbai Bullet Train station being cast. “First slab casting for Virar and Boisar Bullet Train station is completed,” officials confirmed.
