The dream of running India’s first bullet train between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is getting closer to reality with the completion of a bridge over the Dhadhar river in Gujarat’s Vadodara district. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL) announced on Saturday that the 120-meter bridge, featuring three full-span girders and several tall piers, is now ready. This bridge is located between Bharuch and Vadodara.

Out of the 24 river bridges on the Bullet Train corridor, 20 are in Gujarat and four are in Maharashtra. So far, seven river bridges have been finished. These rivers are Par, Puma, Mindhola, Ambika, Auranga, Venganiya, and Mohar. The first phase of the bullet train project, from Surat to Bilimora, is set to be operational by 2026.

The NHSRCL detailed that the new 120-meter bridge consists of three full-span girders of 40 meters each, along with several circular piers ranging from 16 to 20 meters in height, and 4 to 5 meters in diameter. This bridge is situated between Bharuch and Vadodara. They also mentioned that there are 24 river bridges in total along the Bullet Train corridor, with 20 in Gujarat and four in Maharashtra.

Indian Railways has announced that the first phase of the bullet train project between Surat and Bilimora in Gujarat will be up and running by 2026.
