Taking into the demands for a stop at Chengannur to help Sabarimala pilgrims in Kerala, Union Minister V Muraleedharan on Monday (October 23) inaugurated the halt of the Vande Bahrat Express at Chengannur in this coastal Kerala District.
Train No. 20634/20633, the ‘Thiruvananthapuram Central – Kasargod – Thiruvananthapuram Central’ train, made its scheduled stop at Chengannur station at 6.55 AM on Monday. Upon its arrival, a warm reception was organized for the train at the station, where it has now been allocated a designated stop.
The event saw the participation of various dignitaries, including Mavelikkara MP Kodikkunnil Suresh, Chengannur Municipality Chairperson Susamma Abraham, and other elected representatives. The Railway Board has officially approved a two-minute halt for the train at Chengannur starting today, along with revised timings.
Change in timings of Kerala Vande Bharat Express
According to the latest update, the Vande Bharat train, which traditionally departs at 5.20 am from Thiruvananthapuram, will now begin its journey five minutes earlier, at 5.15 am.
Consequently, the train’s arrival times at other stations will also be five minutes earlier. For instance, it will now reach Kollam at 6.03 am instead of 6.08 am and Chengannur at 6.53 am. However, there will be no changes in the schedule at the Kottayam station, where it will still arrive at 7.27 am, and at the Ernakulam Town station, where the arrival time remains 8.25 am.
The train is expected to reach Thrissur at 9.30 am. Nevertheless, there will be no modifications in the schedule from Shoranur to Kasaragod. Additionally, the timetable for the Vande Bharat train remains unchanged from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram up to Shoranur.
The train is slated to reach Thrissur at 6.10 pm and depart at 6.13 pm (the previous timings were arrival at 6.10 pm and departure at 6.12 pm). The schedules at Ernakulam and Kottayam stations will remain unaffected, while it will reach Chengannur at 8.46 pm, Kollam at 9.34 pm, and Thiruvananthapuram at 10.40 pm.
