The landslide occurred outside a tunnel between Vinhere (Raigad) and Divan Khawati (Ratnagiri) stations around 5 pm.
According to the officials, no trains were passing through that section at the time of the incident. “No train was passing through the section at the time,” an official said.
However, five to six long-distance trains were halted at different stations along the route.

Response teams, equipped with machinery such as a JCB and a poclain, were promptly mobilised to clear the tracks. Officials confirmed that efforts were underway to restore services within two to three hours.
“A JCB has already reached the spot, and a poclain machine is on the way. The services may resume in two to three hours,” the official said.
This incident adds to previous disruptions on the Konkan Railway, including issues with waterlogging in the Pernem tunnel in the Madure-Pernem section of Goa earlier in the week, amidst the ongoing monsoon rains.
