In a significant move to enhance railway connectivity and alleviate congestion in Sambalpur, the Ministry of Railways has approved a budget of Rs 288.61 crore for the construction of a new flyover. This infrastructure project aims to streamline train operations and improve travel efficiency in the region.

Improving Transit and Connectivity

The proposed flyover, spanning 8.10 kilometers, will establish a crucial link between Sambalpur Station and Sambalpur City Station. This development is set to facilitate seamless train movements from all directions, thereby easing congestion and ensuring smoother transit towards Titilagarh, Angul, and Jharsuguda. The project is designed to enhance the average speed and operational efficiency of trains, significantly benefiting passengers and freight services alike.

An official from the Ministry highlighted that the flyover is part of the broader Energy Corridor initiative of Indian Railways, emphasizing the commitment to sustainable and efficient infrastructure development. This initiative is expected to bolster the region’s railway network, supporting future growth and improving overall transportation infrastructure.

The construction of the Sambalpur flyover is not only a step towards modernizing railway infrastructure but also a pivotal development in enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic growth in the area.
