Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Lok Sabha on Wednesday about the operation of four non-AC Amrit Bharat trains, which are equipped with advanced features aimed at enhancing passenger comfort. The announcement came in response to JD(U) MP Sunil Kumar’s query regarding the introduction of 165 new Amrit Bharat trains.
Advanced Features of Amrit Bharat Trains
Vaishnaw detailed that the Amrit Bharat trains incorporate state-of-the-art technology designed to offer a superior travel experience. These trains are equipped with semi-permanent couplers to ensure a jerk-free journey, horizontal sliding windows for better ventilation, foldable snack tables, bottle holders, and mobile holders. The minister highlighted that these trains are fully non-AC and feature 12 sleeper class coaches and 8 general class coaches.
Among the four Amrit Bharat trains currently in operation, the 15557/15558 Darbhanga-Anand Vihar (T) Amrit Bharat Express is notable for its route, running via Sitamarhi, Raxaul, Narkatiaganj, Gorakhpur, and Lucknow. The trains are designed to provide high-quality services to passengers, reflecting the Railways’ commitment to improving travel experiences.
In response to Sunil Kumar’s question about the potential introduction of an Amrit Bharat train service from New Delhi to Muzaffarpur via Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Narkatiaganj, and Bettiah, Vaishnaw emphasized that the introduction of new train services, including Amrit Bharat Express services, is an ongoing process. This process is subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, and resource availability.
The minister noted that the expansion of train services is a continuous effort by the Indian Railways, aiming to meet the evolving needs of passengers across the country. The Amrit Bharat services are part of this broader initiative to enhance connectivity and comfort in railway travel.
