Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to launch a Vande Bharat train service between Sitamarhi in Bihar to Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. This proposal aims to boost connectivity for pilgrims who are planning their trip between two major religious destinations: Punaura Dham Janki Mandir in Sitamarhi and Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Sitamarhi is believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Sita. Kumar highlighted the importance of both places as a large number of devotes visit these places regularly. Thus, there is a need to provide better transport facilities for the pilgrims.

Boosting pilgrim connectivity

The Bihar government has already taken up the development plan for Punaura Dham Janki Mandir, which is an important Hindu pilgrimage site. Kumar extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister for introducing Vande Bharat trains linking various cities of Bihar to other parts of the country. He also urged the PM to introduce another Vande Bharat train that would interlink Ayodhya and Sitamarhi and facilitate an easier route for pilgrims.

Punaura Dham and Ram-Janki Marg Development status

Kumar also draws attention toward the ongoing construction work of the ”Ram-Janki Marg,” a road project that has been developed to enhance the route between Ayodhya and Sitamarhi. Bihar CM requested the central government to expedite the construction work and to ensure better road facilities for travellers. Around Rs 72.47 crore budget has been sanctioned by the state cabinet for the development of Punaura Dham Janki Mandir. Under the project, various amenities like Sita-Vatika, a parikrama path, Luv-Kush Vatika including other facilities will also be developed. Thematic gates along with parking areas will also be created. All the roads leading to the sacred site have also been upgraded.
