Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently in Oman’s capital city of Muscat on the last leg of his three-nation tour, has spoken of collaboration between India and Oman across multiple sectors.

Speaking at the India-Oman Business Summit, PM Modi highlighted that the two countries can work together in several areas, including energy, oil and gas, fertilisers, health, petrochemicals, and green energy.

#Push for green energy cooperation

Focusing on green energy collaboration, he said India and Oman can start five new projects in the sector over the next five years.

“Let’s aim to start 5 new projects in this sector in the next 5 years,” news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

He also outlined the potential areas for these projects, adding, “We need to set up new benchmarks in the field of Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia, Solar Parks, Energy Storage, and Smart Grids.”

#Innovation and startup partnership

To further strengthen bilateral ties, PM Modi suggested the formation of the India-Oman Innovation Bridge, which will aim at connecting nearly 200 startups over the next two years.

“We have to take the India-Oman partnership to the next level, for which the business world from both sides needs to set some targets,” he added.

#Focus on agricultural technology

Prime Minister Modi has also proposed the formation of the India-Oman Agri Innovation Hub, which will aim to provide a global platform for India’s agricultural technology.

#CEPA to shape future trade ties

Speaking on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), PM Modi said it would serve as a blueprint for the strengthening of trade ties between the countries.

“We are making a historic decision whose echo will be heard for decades to come. The CEPA will fill us with new trust and new energy in the 21st century. This is a blueprint of our shared future. This will boost our trade, give new confidence to investment, and open new doors to opportunities in every sector.”
