Flipkart recorded a 24% year-on-year growth in units during its 2025 festive season, with over 60% of orders originating from tier 2 and 3 cities, the e-commerce firm said.

The company fulfilled over 7.3 million shipments in a single day during peak periods, processing more than 5,000 shipments per minute. Same-day and next-day deliveries grew 44% compared to the previous year.

Tier 2 and 3 Cities Lead the Festive Charge

Tier 2 and 3 cities drove festive demand, accounting for over 60% of Big Billion Days orders. Cities such as Jhajjar and Bahraich recorded exponential order growth. Categories including small furniture and household supplies saw 90% higher uptake in non-metro markets.

Flipkart’s supply chain network now covers 21,000+ pincodes. The company deployed AI-powered forecasting, machine learning-driven planning, and automated inventory systems during the festive period. Fulfilment centres used automated guided vehicles, robotic arms, and cross-belt sorters to manage peak volumes.

Scaling Logistics with Automation and Inclusive Hiring

The festive season operations created over 4 lakh seasonal job opportunities across 28 states. Notably, 15% of these positions were filled by first-time workforce entrants. The company also increased hiring from women, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+ communities by 20%. The company trained over 10,000 associates through its Supply Chain Operations Academy in warehouse operations and safety protocols. Additionally, 6,000 college students received training in supply chain management.

“What sets this season apart is not just the speed or volume, but the impact – over 4 lakh new jobs, deeper regional access, and inclusive hiring,” said Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, Flipkart Group.
