Todd Combs has resigned from Berkshire Hathaway and is joining JPMorgan Chase. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway has announced a number of structural changes, including the retirement of Todd Combs, investment officer and CEO of Geico.

Todd A. Combs has left Berkshire Hathaway as part of this change and joined JPMorgan Chase & Co., where he has been a director of the board since 2016.

Warren Buffett, Berkshire Hathaway’s Chairman, said, “Todd A. Combs, CEO of GEICO since 2020, has resigned to accept an interesting and important job at JPMorgan, which they describe in a press release that will be available very soon on their website. Todd made many great hires at GEICO and broadened its horizons. JPMorgan, as is usually the case, has made a good decision.”

JPMorganChase announced that Todd Combs, Investment Manager of Berkshire Hathaway, Chief Executive Officer of GEICO and a former member of JPMorganChase’s Board of Directors, will head the $10 billion Strategic Investment Group of the firm’s new Security and Resiliency Initiative (SRI), which the firm recently launched to help companies enhance their growth, spur innovation and accelerate manufacturing, primarily in the United States.

Combs, one of the world’s leading investors, will work closely with the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) and Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) to identify opportunities that cut across middle-market and large corporate clients in the defense, aerospace, healthcare and energy sectors. He will also act as a Special Advisor to Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and to the firm’s Operating Committee on specific strategic issues.

Combs will join the company in January 2026. He stepped off the JPMorganChase Board, effective immediately, to accept this critical role, reporting to Jamie Dimon.

Todd A. Combs was an investment officer at Berkshire Hathaway Inc., a holding company whose subsidiaries engage in several diverse business activities, including finance, insurance and reinsurance, utilities and energy, freight rail transportation, manufacturing, retailing and services.

Before joining Berkshire Hathaway in 2010, Combs was Chief Executive Officer and Managing Member of Castle Point Capital Management, an investment partnership he founded in 2005 to manage capital for endowments, family foundations and institutions.

Before forming Castle Point, Combs held various positions at Copper Arch Capital, Progressive Insurance and the State of Florida Banking, Securities and Finance Division.

Combs has served as a director of Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries Precision Castparts Corp. since 2016, Charter Brokerage LLC since 2014 and Duracell Inc. since 2016. Combs graduated from Florida State University and received an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
