DMRC Phase 4 expansion: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday commenced passenger services on a 2.8-kilometre stretch between Janakpuri West and Krishna Park Extension on the Magenta Line. This marks the first operational section of Phase IV of the metro network expansion.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new section and laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 26.5-kilometer Rithala-Narela-Kundli Metro corridor, which will extend into Sonipat.

Delhi Metro network expands
With the inclusion of Krishna Park Extension station, the Delhi Metro network now comprises 289 stations across a span of 394.448 kilometres.This addition extends the Botanical Garden–Janakpuri West corridor on the Magenta Line, which now covers approximately 40 kilometres. The Magenta Line is set to be further extended from Krishna Park Extension to R K Ashram Marg in phases by 2026.
DMRC Phase-IV progress
As part of the Phase-IV expansion, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is constructing 86 kilometres of new lines across five corridors in the national capital. Among these, three corridors—Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg, Majlis Park to Maujpur, and Aerocity to Tughlakabad—are under construction, while two others—Lajpat Nagar to Saket-G Block and Indraprastha to Inderlok—are in the pre-tendering phase.
In November last year, the first six-coach train under the Phase-IV expansion arrived in Delhi and was stationed at the Mukundpur depot for statutory certification tests. The DMRC will receive 52 trains under the RS-17 contract for priority Phase-IV corridors, including Majlis Park to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to R K Ashram Marg, and Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity.

Rithala–Kundli corridor
The 26.5-kilometre Rithala–Kundli corridor, featuring 21 stations, is set to greatly improve connectivity for residents in Rohini, Bawana, and Kundli. It will enhance access to residential, commercial, and industrial hubs across Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.
