The Navi Mumbai Metro has received the three globally recognised ISO certifications for quality, environment and safety standards, Maharashtra government’s CIDCO announced on Monday, December 16. The Metro had started operations in November 2023.
Operated by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro), the metro has achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications within its first year of operations, according to CIDCO, which implemented the project.
These certifications reflect the metro’s commitment to upholding global standards in quality management, environmental sustainability, and occupational health and safety, CIDCO stated in an official release.
This notable achievement establishes Navi Mumbai Metro as the only metro line in Maharashtra to secure all three ISO certifications during its inaugural year of operation. The British Standards Institution (BSI) awarded these certifications through Maha Metro, the official release stated.
“This achievement underscores CIDCO’s dedication to providing world-class metro services while prioritising quality, sustainability, and safety. It reaffirms CIDCO’s leadership in urban development and infrastructure,” Vice Chairman and Managing Director, CIDCO, Vijay Singhal said.
The 11-km-long Belapur-Pendhar corridor, part of phase 1 of the Navi Mumbai Metro project, began operations on November 17 last year. The corridor connects Belapur CBD, Taloja MIDC, and CIDCO’s housing complexes in Kharghar.
