To ensure public safety and manage crowds during New Year’s Eve celebrations on 31st December 2024, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an important update regarding operations at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.

As per advisory by police authorities, exit from Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will not be permitted after 9:00 PM on New Year’s Eve. This measure has been implemented to prevent overcrowding in Connaught Place, a popular destination for New Year celebrations.

Entry to Remain Open Until the Last Train

Despite the exit restrictions, passengers can still enter Rajiv Chowk Metro Station until the last train departs. This ensures that commuters can use the station as a transit point while maintaining safety protocols.

Changes to QR Ticket Issuance

To facilitate smooth crowd management, the DMRC has also announced that QR tickets with a destination to Rajiv Chowk Metro Station will not be issued via its mobile app from 8:00 PM onwards on 31st December. Commuters are encouraged to plan alternative routes and destinations.

Metro services across the rest of the network will continue to operate as per the regular timetable. Passengers travelling to other destinations can expect uninterrupted service during the New Year celebrations.

DMRC has urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience. The exit restrictions and ticketing adjustments are designed to manage the significant influx of people in Connaught Place, a hub for festivities.

This proactive measure aims to provide a safer environment for all and ensure that the New Year begins on a positive note. Passengers are advised to stay updated with DMRC announcements for any further changes or advisories.
