To ensure safety and convenience during New Year’s Eve celebrations, Metro Railway Kolkata has announced enhanced security measures and special train services for December 31, 2024. The measures focus on handling the anticipated crowd at key stations along the Blue Line (Dakshineswar-New Garia corridor).

Enhanced Security at Key Stations

Special security arrangements will be in place at major metro stations, including Park Street, Esplanade, Maidan, Rabindra Sadan, Dum Dum, and Dakshineswar.

  • RPF Deployment: Trained Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel will be stationed at all entry and exit gates of these high-traffic stations.
  • Special Team at Park Street: A dedicated team comprising one officer and four staff members will be deployed at Park Street station to manage the heavy footfall effectively.
  • Anti-Sabotage Measures: Enhanced anti-sabotage checks will be conducted at these stations to ensure passenger safety.

Women’s Safety Measures

To address safety concerns for women and children, special teams of women RPF officers and staff will be stationed at Park Street, Maidan, and Esplanade metro stations.

  • Dedicated Team: Each station will have a team led by a sub-inspector or assistant sub-inspector, supported by four staff members, including two women personnel.
  • Round-the-Clock Monitoring: Surveillance teams will monitor real-time developments through CCTV feeds at the central control room.

Special Train Services

To accommodate the increased number of commuters on New Year’s Eve, six additional train services will run after 9:40 PM along the Blue Line.

    • 10:18 PM
  • Departure Schedule from Kavi Subhash (New Garia):
    • 9:55 PM
    • 10:10 PM
    • 10:25 PM
  • Frequency: These trains will operate at intervals of 15 minutes, ensuring smooth transportation for passengers.

Real-Time Monitoring

To manage the night’s operations effectively, Metro Railway Kolkata will post adequate staff in the central control room. The team will monitor CCTV footage from across the network to address any emerging situations promptly.

To assist commuters during the festivities, RPF personnel will be stationed at key locations to provide guidance and maintain order.
