As per the announcement, the boxes have been installed at 15 prominent interchange metro stations in a set of two each. These stations are – Welcome, Kashmere Gate, Netaji Subhash Place, Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar (non interchange station), New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Delhi Haat-INA, Hauz Khas, Dwarka, Janakpuri West, Rajouri Garden, Mandi House, Yamuna Bank, and Lajpat Nagar.

Where have the boxes been placed?

These e-waste recycling boxes have been placed in the paid area of each station, making it easy for commuters to dispose of their printer ink bottles and cartridges. The initiative aims to promote a culture of recycling and sustainability. It also seeks to promote responsible disposal practices among commuters. Based on feedback, the service will be expanded to other major metro stations.

The boxes have been installed in collaboration with the Japanese recycling firm JIT Yamanashi India. “The collected e-waste will be responsibly recycled, reducing the harmful impact on the environment,” DMRC said.

“This facility has come up as part of an MoU which was signed last month between DMRC and JIT Yamanashi India Pvt Ltd. to encourage responsible disposal habits among the commuters and help in making a positive impact on the environment,” a post by DMRC on X read.
