Amazon on Monday announced that it will open its fulfilment centres in Delhi and Bengaluru for in-person tours by the end of this year. This is the first time the e-commerce major will allow such visits in the country.

In a statement, Amazon said that these tours will start from the October-December quarter and will last 45 to 60 minutes.
Known as Amazon Tours, these visits to the company’s smart warehouses showcase how a package is packed, processed and shipped. This was earlier available in the US, Canada, the UK, Italy, Germany, and France. Nick Boone-Lutz, who leads the public tours program at Amazon, said that since the launch in 2014, the company’s warehouses have been visited by around 2 million visitors.

In 2025, it will also be extended to Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Belgium, Poland, and Japan. In India, the tours will run three times a week at both Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru FCs, accommodating up to 20 participants per tour. People keen on these tours will be able to register online later this year and experience the behind-the-scenes operations.

“These tours offer visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the technology and people working together to deliver for our customers every day,” said Abhinav Singh, VP (operations), India and Australia, Amazon.

The centre in Delhi-NCR is the largest warehouse in North India and spans 450,000 square feet. The Bengaluru facility is Amazon’s largest fulfilment centre in the country with over 2 million cubic feet of storage space.

The company is investing around Rs 2,000 crore in the country to scale up its operations network and reduce delivery times. It is also ramping up its fulfilment centres ahead of the Prime Day sale 2025, scheduled to take place in the second week of July. Last week, Amazon announced that it has opened five new smart warehouses in Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, Rajpura, and Delhi-NCR.

“With Prime Day 2025 approaching, Prime members can look forward to even faster deliveries, with lakhs of items available for same-day or next-day delivery,” Singh said.
