IT giant Wipro’s Asia Pacific, India, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) president Anis Chenchah resigned on Friday to “pursue opportunities outside the organisation”, the company said in an exchange filing. The company appointed Vinay Firake, a Wirpo veteran, as the new APMEA chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Notably, Chenchah is the first big exit since new CEO Srinivas Pallia took charge after the former CEO Thierry Delaporte resigned on April 6. Chencha joined Wipro when Delaporte was Wipro’s CEO and the duo had worked together in Capgemini.

Firake has been with Wipro for 26 years and has served in various leadership roles. Most recently, he acted as the senior vice president and managing director of Wipro-Nordics business unit based in Stockholm.

Before that, Firake was the head of the manufacturing & automotive vertical in Europe and held various roles in Europe and North America.

“Vinay has successfully led Wipro in diverse regions globally and is the perfect candidate for this role,” Pallia said in a note. “Vinay has a great track record in the Nordics Business Unit, where he was instrumental in signing several prestigious clients, and I am confident that he will bring the same rigor and success to APMEA,” he added.
