On the day Spicejet announced its ‘Cheaper Than Train Fares’ sale offer in which it priced tickets at a well-grounded Rs 599 all-inclusive for domestic flights, Cleartrip broke down the jargon and showed where the money is.

This Spicejet offer is also available for international flights (except Colombo, Kabul and Dubai-Ahmedabad-Dubai sectors), at fares starting at just Rs 3,499.

Reacting to the Spicejet offer, Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Operating Officer, Cleartrip said, specifically, in the current promotion, a family of 2 booking a roundtrip flight from Mumbai to Delhi, that is 90 days out, stand to save Rs 3,700, more than what they would have paid yesterday for the same flights.”

He added, “Flash sales, like the one Spicejet announced, have shown an increasing consumer interest over the last few quarters. Usually, airlines fill only 40% of their seats 30 days & more in advance – essentially the leisure segment of customers planning their travel. There has always existed an opportunity to increase the advance purchase and make the booking curve healthier. The advantage to the airline, apart from getting to more predictable flight loads well in advance, is to also help them grow yield closer to departure on the back of this. And obviously, the customer benefits with these attractive fares.”
