Eternal (formerly Zomato) has introduced ‘Retail stores’ and ‘Activities’ tabs in select locations on its going-out app, District, as part of efforts to reduce losses in the segment.

The newly added ‘Stores’ section enables users to locate retail outlets offering apparel, footwear, accessories, and more. Brands such as The Souled Store, Adidas, VLCC, Toni & Guy, Heads Up For Tails, and Libas are already featured on the platform.

To encourage purchases via District, Eternal is offering customers additional discounts, along with food and movie vouchers. This is similar to what magicpin does.

Meanwhile, the ‘Activities tab’ allows users to explore games, adventure parks, workshops, and art & craft sessions in their local area. Eternal has also partnered with social media influencers to promote this new feature.

Despite these additions, the company’s going-out business continues to weigh on its financials. In Q4FY25, the segment reported a 327% increase in adjusted Ebitda loss, reaching ₹47 crore.

Eternal said it will need two more quarters to complete the transition to District, after which the dining-out option will be removed from the Zomato app entirely.

During the Q4 earnings call, Akshant Goyal, CFO of Eternal, acknowledged the continued losses but indicated they may have peaked.

“We are not expecting this business to become profitable in that time frame. But, at the same time, we don’t expect that losses will go up from here as well,” he said.
