Adani Power’s net profit declined by 15.5 per cent YoY in the first quarter of fiscal year 2025-26. The company posted a net profit of Rs 3305 crore in Q1 FY26 against a net profit of Rs 3912 crore in Q1FY25.
Furthermore, the Adani Group company’s revenue also declined by 5.6 per cent YoY in Q1FY26. The company’s revenue from operations stood at Rs 14,109 crore in Q1FY26, while in the corresponding quarter of FY25, it registered a revenue of Rs 14,955 crore.
Adani Power’s reported EBITDA stood at Rs 6,149.83 crore in Q1FY26. Its reported EBITDA in Q1FY25 stood at 6,712.63 crore, resulting in an 8.38 per cent YoY decline.
Adani Power said that the primary reason for the profit degrowth in the quarter is the increasing operating expenses after the acquisitions and lower merchant tariffs in the quarter. Further, the company said that the revenue was affected by supply disruptions due to heat waves and an early monsoon affecting power demand.
Capacity and operations
Adani Power’s total installed capacity stood at 17,550 MW at the end of Q1FY26. The company’s installed capacity grew by 15 per cent YoY as it stood at 15,250 MW in Q1FY25. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, the company’s capacity remained stagnant.
The company’s Plant Load Factor (PLF), the power generation efficiency and performance metric, declined from 78 per cent in Q1FY25 to 67 per cent in Q1FY26.
An early monsoon affected the power demand for Adani Power, leading to a 1.6 per cent YoY decline. The company sold a total of 445.2 billion units of power in Q1FY26 against a sale of 452.4 billion units in Q1 FY25. Total unsold power remained at 24.6 billion units in the quarter.
S B Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power, said in a statement, “Adani Power’s stable financial performance this quarter is a testament to its resilience and core strengths, even in the face of variability in power demand and unpredictable weather.”
Khyalia added that the company is looking to grow its capacity to 30 GW by 2030 through swift project execution and strategic acquisitions.
