As India accelerates toward its $5 trillion economic goal, investments in infrastructure, smart cities, and digital ecosystems continue to gain momentum. Government-backed initiatives like the Smart Cities Mission and PLI schemes have catalyzed growth across sectors ranging from logistics to live entertainment. Analysts say the convergence of AV integration, immersive tech, and AI is becoming a cornerstone of urban development and experiential consumption.
In line with this trend, Mumbai is currently hosting the 23rd edition of the PALM AV-ICN Expo 2025, South Asia’s largest showcase of professional audio, video, and lighting technologies. The event, which features over 300 exhibitors and draws more than 25,000 professionals, highlights India’s emergence as a global hub for entertainment technology and AV innovation. Speaking at the inauguration, Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director of Informa Markets in India, noted that “India’s professional audio, AV, and lighting industries are going through a transformative phase, driven by the demand for immersive experiences and the country’s commitment to smart and sustainable infrastructure.” Industry leaders echoed his sentiments, pointing to India’s growing influence in the global AV supply chain.
“India is at a transformative juncture, with IT, AI, and broadband revolutionizing product development. Strategically positioned for leadership, the nation is focusing on large-scale manufacturing and boosted investment through MSME reforms. Driven by strong domestic demand, India is set to become a global hub for professional audio, lighting, and AV solutions.” said Mr. Anil Chopra – Founding Director, PALM Expo.
Elsewhere, the retail, education, and hospitality sectors are ramping up digital integration, increasingly relying on AV-led solutions for customer engagement, operations, and immersive experiences. With urban populations projected to surpass 600 million by 2030, the need for scalable, intelligent, and localized technology deployment is becoming critical. Experts also highlight the role of AI in transforming traditional workflows, from predictive maintenance in smart buildings to real-time content delivery at live venues.
As India continues its rapid digital transformation, platforms like the PALM AV-ICN Expo serve not only as a marketplace for innovation but also as a reflection of the country’s ambition to lead in technology-driven infrastructure and experience design.
