At 65, South Indian superstar Nagarjuna Akkineni continues to impress fans with his youthful looks, glowing skin, and fit physique. Often seen as an age-defying icon, Nagarjuna has long been admired for his dedication to wellness, and now, he’s setting the record straight about what really keeps him in shape.
In a recent chat with music composer MM Keeravani, Nagarjuna revealed a surprising detail, which is contrary to rumours that he does eat dinner every day, but early. “I eat around 7 pm,” he said, adding that his plate usually includes salads, rice, chicken, and fish. He doesn’t consider this a fad but simply a “way of life” he has followed for decades.
Nagarjuna prioritises fitness over everything
For Nagarjuna, fitness isn’t optional. It’s non-negotiable. In an interview with Hindustan Times, he said that his day always begins with a workout, which is something he won’t skip, even for work commitments. “I’ve been working out for 35 years,” he shared.
Nagarjuna’s fitness routine
His weekly routine includes a mix of strength training, cardio, swimming, and brisk walking, and he trains 5 to 6 times a week for around 45 minutes to an hour. On days when he can’t hit the gym, he switches to swimming, something he’s enjoyed since his teenage years.
Nagarjuna’s workout mantra
What makes Nagarjuna’s fitness journey inspiring is its simplicity. He avoids overcomplicating things and instead focuses on consistency and mindful movement. His workout mantra? Keep your heart rate up and stay away from your phone. He believes avoiding long breaks and keeping the heart rate above 70 per cent of the max helps boost metabolism and keeps energy levels high throughout the day.
Nagarjuna’s diet plan: Intermittent fasting
Nagarjuna also practices the 12:12 intermittent fasting method, where he eats within a 12-hour window and fasts for the other 12 hours. His day starts with a pre-workout meal that includes natural probiotics like kimchi, sauerkraut, or fermented cabbage, along with warm water and coffee—helping him maintain gut health and digestion.
As fans continue to look up to celebrities for wellness inspiration, Nagarjuna’s approach feels both attainable and realistic. Unlike extreme diets or short-term trends, his methods are grounded in balance, something even health experts support. Early dinners, regular movement, and gut-friendly foods have all been linked to better long-term health.
In a world of quick fixes and fitness fads, Nagarjuna’s fitness routine shows that he believes in consistency, not complexity, is key.
