The healthcare sector is currently driving tech spends in US as it needs to increase automation to cut down on manual effort expenditure, Rajan Kohli, CEO of specialised healthcare technology services solutions provider, CitiusTech told Fe. Further, the industry is highly profitable so there’s no budgetary constraints, he added.
“If you can improve automation and cut manual effort by even half, billions of dollars will get saved,” Kohli said. He said that in BPO manual effort cost is not high, but in healthcare it is expensive because doctors or qualified physicians examine cases and take a call on the procedure to be adopted.
Another factor behind high tech spends in healthcare is that people are once again going for expensive treatments and surgeries, something which had stopped during Covid.
With around 8,500 employees, CitiusTech has offices across Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai. India houses about 75% of its employees.
The company gets about 99% of its revenue from US, and has started diversifying to Europe. “We’ve just started our European office. We’ve got approval to set up an entity. We’re starting in Switzerland,” Kohli said.
