Rosmerta Technologies will set-up its second Automated Testing Station (ATS) in Maharashtra; an initiative supported by the Transport Department, Maharashtra. The State Govt has been actively working on a tendering process to set up multiple ATS. Rosmerta is one of the companies to set up 21 centres in entire Maharashtra. This is part of the Road Transport Ministry’s (MORTH) initiative for implementing a new system for issuing fitness certificates to public service vehicles.
Under the revised Motor Vehicle Act, a new Chapter XI has been added to regulate Automated Testing Stations (ATS). Starting from October 1, 2024, all public service vehicles must be tested at these ATS centres to receive their fitness certificates. To comply with this requirement, State Governments are establishing multiple ATS centres across their regions to facilitate the testing process.
Under this initiative, Rosemerta’s existing vehicle inspection and certification centre at Nashik will also be upgraded to ATS soon.
The main objective of setting up of ATS is to scientifically test the road worthiness of the transport vehicles by authentic equipment before they ply on road. The testing is done through online booking on fully automated test lane equipment and test data is uploaded on VAHAN and thereafter the fitness certificate is issued through VAHAN portal. Manual intervention is totally abolished.
Speaking about the initiative, Vasant Khandelwal, Member of Maharashtra Legislative Council, Akola, said “The introduction of these technologically advanced ATS centres will play a crucial role in scientifically assessing the roadworthiness of vehicles, thereby reducing the risk of accidents caused by unfit vehicles”.
Kartick Nagpal, President of Rosmerta Technologies reiterated the importance of safety of road transport and the need for automated testing measures to bring down the rate of fatalities and injuries on road.
Setting up these ATS is expected to enhance safety of vehicles.
