Bajaj Auto has set up a new motorcycle manufacturing unit in Manaus, Brazil. Bajaj Do Brasil Comercio De Motocicletas, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bajaj Auto, on Wednesday commenced commercial production at the new plant at Av.do Turismo, Bairro Tarumã, Manaus.

Bajaj Do Brazil has a production capacity of 20,000 units per year in a single shift and can go up to 50,000 units. The plant comprises an engine and vehicle assembly and testing facilities.

The company set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in March 2022 to address the highly competitive motorcycle market in Brazil. The subsidiary is currently selling the Dominar range of motorcycles and could soon add Pulsars to the portfolio.

The Dominar brand has been received well in the market since its launch 18 months ago. With its plant, the bikemaker will fulfil demand locally, introduce new products, and build a wider distribution network, according to the company.
