DRDO-Adani Defence & Aerospace unveil Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025
The successful collaboration between Adani Defence & Aerospace and DRDO marks a milestone in the country’s drive towards self-sufficiency and national security.
India’s aerospace and defence capabilities received a significant boost today with the launch of the Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System at Aero India 2025.
Developed through a public-private partnership between Adani Defence & Aerospace and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the system showcases India’s growing self-reliance in defence technology. Dr BK Das, Director General of DRDO’s Electronics & Communication System division, presided over the unveiling, highlighting the importance of this innovation for India’s security landscape.
This cutting-edge system, created under DRDO’s Transfer of Technology (ToT) framework, represents a major leap in countering the growing threats posed by drones in modern warfare. As drones are increasingly used for reconnaissance and offensive operations, India’s need for a robust anti-drone solution has never been more urgent. The new Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System is designed to offer long-range protection with high precision, agility, and real-time threat neutralization capabilities.
Integrated into a single 4×4 vehicle, this system combines various advanced technologies for a comprehensive counter-drone solution. The platform features a high-energy laser for precise neutralization of hostile drones, a 7.62mm gun for dealing with aerial threats, and a sophisticated suite of sensors. These include radar, SIGINT (Signals Intelligence), electro-optical systems, and jammers, all working together to automatically detect, classify, and neutralize drone threats up to a distance of 10 km.
The system’s mobility ensures rapid deployment and operational flexibility, essential for both defence forces and civilian infrastructure protection. Its integration of multiple counter-drone technologies into one platform allows for quick, effective responses to aerial threats, making it an indispensable asset for securing critical national infrastructure.
Ashish Rajvanshi, CEO of Adani Defence & Aerospace, commented on the launch, saying, “The unveiling of this system underscores the strength of India’s defence innovation ecosystem. The collaboration with DRDO, through its world-class research and the ToT framework, has enabled us to turn advanced technologies into a fully operational solution. Our mission is to ensure that the armed forces are equipped with the most advanced, indigenous systems to protect the nation’s strategic interests.”
Echoing this sentiment, Dr BK Das from DRDO stated, “This system represents a crucial advancement in India’s ability to defend against asymmetric aerial threats. By integrating multiple counter-drone technologies into a single, mobile platform, we are ensuring that India can respond quickly to evolving threats. DRDO remains committed to advancing indigenous solutions that strengthen national security and reduce dependence on imports.”
The launch of this vehicle-mounted system highlights nation’s ongoing commitment to developing world-class, indigenous defence technologies. The successful collaboration between Adani Defence & Aerospace and DRDO marks a milestone in the country’s drive towards self-sufficiency and national security. This system’s deployment promises to play a pivotal role in protecting key infrastructure and addressing the challenges posed by rogue drones.
The unveiling of the Vehicle-Mounted Counter-Drone System reinforces India’s position as a rising leader in the global defence sector, with homegrown solutions designed to meet modern security needs.
