Base, Coinbase’s layer-2 network, has set a new record in terms of daily transactions. According to BaseScan, a blockchain explorer, the record has overtaken its previous record which happened when it was unveiled in August, 2023, as stated by Cointelegraph.
According to Cointelegraph, on September 14, 2023, Base secured 1.88 million transactions. Reportedly, the layer-2 blockchain had a previous record of 1.41 million transactions. From what it’s understood, the network overtook other chains such as Arbitrum and Optimism, which had a sum total of 878,000 transactions on that day.
Based on Cointelegraph’s data, Base is yet to overtake blockchains such as BNB Smart Chain (BSC) and Polygon, in spite of the development. Sources suggest that on September 14, 2023, Polygon clocked 2.1 million transactions, while BSC clocked 3.1 million transactions.
With regard to daily users, Base seemingly had roughly 86,000 on September 14, 2023, as per information from Dune Analytics.
Moreover, Cointelegraph noted that Base came into existence on August 9, 2023. On September 6, 2023, more than 700,000 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) were minted by over 268,000 unique wallets present on the blockchain.
