The Lok Sabha’s Committee on Foreign Affairs has issued a detailed report urging the Indian government to step up diplomatic efforts to uncover Pakistan’s involvement in sponsoring terrorism, while also beefing up security measures along India’s borders.

“The Committee wants the Government to continue diplomatic efforts to expose Pakistan’s harmful activities and its connections with various terrorist groups on all fronts, while also strengthening land borders and sea routes to prevent terrorist infiltration,” stated the report.

Titled “Combating Global Terrorism Locally and Internationally,” the report sheds light on the strong connections between ISI and terrorist groups in the region. It mentions well-known groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), and Indian Mujahideen (IM) as beneficiaries of ISI’s support.

Emphasizing the severity of the situation, the Committee stressed the immediate need to dismantle terrorist networks and safe havens, asserting, “Stopping terrorist attacks requires breaking down all terrorist networks and safe havens.”

Regarding cross-border terrorism, the report noted, “Pakistan’s ISI provides terrorist groups with safe havens, resources, funding, and other support to carry out attacks in India.”

Despite the absence of high-level talks with Pakistan in the past three years, India consistently raises concerns about Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorism in various international forums.

The report highlighted this, stating, “The Government regularly raises Pakistan’s ongoing support for cross-border terrorism and infiltration in bilateral, regional, and global discussions.”

Additionally, the Committee acknowledged India’s enduring fight against terrorism, noting, “India has suffered from terrorism for over three decades.”
