Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a three-day visit to the United States on Saturday, where he will participate in several high-profile events, including the Quad Leaders’ Summit and the United Nations’ ‘Summit of the Future’. During the trip, PM Modi will also attend a community program and interact with members of the Indian diaspora.

In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, I am embarking on a three-day visit to the United States of America to participate in the Quad Summit being hosted by President Joe Biden in his hometown, Wilmington and to address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.” He expressed his anticipation for the Quad Summit, where he will join President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Modi highlighted the importance of the Quad forum, describing it as a “key group of like-minded countries working for peace, progress and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.”

During the visit, PM Modi will also meet with President Biden to discuss deepening India-US relations. “Our meeting will allow us to review and identify new pathways to further deepen India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and the global good,” Modi said, underscoring the significance of strengthening ties between the two nations.

In addition to the Quad Summit, Prime Minister Modi is excited to engage with the Indian diaspora and American business leaders. He referred to the diaspora and business leaders as “key stakeholders” who provide vibrancy to the “unique partnership between the largest and the oldest democracies of the world.”

Prime Minister Modi also described the ‘Summit of the Future’ as a crucial opportunity for the global community to chart a course for humanity’s future. He emphasized India’s significant role, stating, “I will share views of the one-sixth of humanity as their stakes in a peaceful and secure future are among the highest in the world.”

PM Modi US visit itinerary 

After a day packed with meetings, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend an evening reception before departing from Philadelphia International Airport for New York. Upon arrival, he will rest before addressing a gathering of the Indian diaspora on Sunday, September 22, at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Long Island.

Later in the evening, PM Modi will participate in a roundtable with CEOs from top companies, continuing a trend from his previous US visits. Strengthening entrepreneurial connections has been a key focus of his leadership over the past decade.

“PM Modi will also be attending a Business Roundtable with CEOs of leading US companies in advanced sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, and biotechnology,” the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated.

After wrapping up his engagements, PM Modi will depart for New Delhi from JFK International Airport on Monday evening, with his arrival in the capital scheduled for Tuesday.
