Taking a strong move towards fostering cooperation between the two countries, the Indian Navy contingent concluded a visit to Port Louis, capital city of Mauritius. The First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir and CGS Sarathi made the visit for their Long-Range Training Deployment. The visit also coincided with the 57th Mauritius National Day celebrations.

Indian Navy’s arrival to Port Louis on Monday, Taking A helicopter and a contingent of the Indian Navy partaken in the illustrious Mauritius National Day city parade the following day. The event was witnessed by President Draoupadi Murmu as a chief guest. The event represented a shared commitment to solidarity and friendship of two nations.

The Indian Naval trainees who visited Mauritius’ Maritime Air Squadron and Police Helicopter Squadron had an enriching experience. As part of a cross-training visit, Mauritius’ National Coast Guard personnel received small weapons and firefighting training on board 1TS ships. The tour concluded with PASSEX (Passage exercise) and VBSS (Visit, board, search, and seizure) exercises to further improve interoperability. Prior to arriving in Port Louis, 1TS and the Mauritius Coast Guard Dornier conducted joint EEZ (Exclusive economic zone) reconnaissance.

The visit displayed the shared commitment to regional security and spoke for the rich cultural and diplomatic ties between two countries. It was aimed to cover a variety of events, such as various training sessions and visit to cross-deck in order to create a dynamic exchange of knowledge and abilities between the two nations’ naval forces. 

The presence of the 1TS demonstrated India and Mauritius’ shared commitment to regional security, as well as the longstanding cultural and diplomatic ties between these nations.
