Honeywell has entered into a long-term agreement with Air India Limited, a prominent airline and Tata Group enterprise, to provide aftermarket support for Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) across Air India’s fleet. This agreement covers both existing and new aircraft, ensuring comprehensive maintenance support for Honeywell’s APUs, which are essential for providing electrical power and air conditioning while the aircraft is on the ground. The collaboration aims to enhance aircraft dispatch reliability, reduce unplanned maintenance costs, and maximize fleet availability.

APUs play a critical role in maintaining passenger comfort and supplying air before starting the main engines. Honeywell’s APU technology is part of their broader focus on three global megatrends: aviation, automation, and energy transition. “We are delighted to strengthen our collaboration with Air India and assist in its fleet modernization efforts,” said Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India. He emphasized the long-standing partnership with Air India, which spans over 30 years, and highlighted Honeywell’s contribution to India’s aviation sector growth through innovative technologies.

As air travel demand increases, the need for reliable aftermarket services grows. The agreement includes support for over 300 aircraft in Air India’s fleet, including legacy A320 and B777 aircraft, as well as the new B737-8 aircraft. Honeywell’s extensive global service network will ensure optimal performance of APUs, minimizing operational disruptions.

Sisira Kanta Dash, Air India’s Chief Technical Officer, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting its significance in the airline’s global growth and transformation plans. He highlighted the importance of Honeywell’s advanced technology services in achieving efficient and reliable operations.
