Boeing recently inaugurated its Boeing India Distribution Center in Khurja, Uttar Pradesh, spanning 36,000 square feet. This warehouse aims to support regional aviation customers in optimizing fleet utilization. The establishment of this new site underscores Boeing’s persistent commitment to expanding its footprint in India, offering an efficient, cost-effective, and locally tailored solution.
Salil Gupte, president of Boeing India, emphasized the significance of the Boeing India Distribution Center, stating, “This center will support the emergent needs of spare parts for Boeing aircraft in India, reducing lead times, improving availability, and supporting the MRO industry here. It illustrates Boeing’s commitment to supporting the growth of this market, aligned with the Government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision.”
Boeing is actively enhancing customer service by strategically growing its global distribution network, with a focus on investing in and developing regional distribution centers. The new India location is one of eight distribution centers globally designed to hold and dispatch spare parts exclusively for Boeing’s commercial customers.
William Ampofo, vice president of Parts & Distribution Services and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, highlighted the strategic importance of the India Distribution Center, stating, “It represents our commitment to delivering efficient, cost-effective solutions for Boeing’s commercial airplane customers in the region. The India Distribution Center is another significant step forward in Boeing’s strategy to provide parts and services when and where customers need them.”
Boeing had announced its investment in this distribution center less than a year ago during Aero India 2023, and the first shipment of parts occurred in December 2023. Located strategically along India’s Eastern Freight Corridor, with proximity to Delhi and the upcoming Jewar airport, the distribution center reinforces Boeing’s commitment to supporting growth and self-reliance objectives in India. The warehouse, prioritizing innovation, safety, and sustainability, operates in collaboration with third-party logistics provider DB Schenker.
Kinjal Pande, CEO at DB Schenker, Cluster India, and Indian Subcontinent, expressed excitement about collaborating with Boeing on constructing an advanced aviation-focused facility in India. This initiative aligns with DB Schenker’s commitment to expanding its local presence and tailoring services to meet the diverse needs of customers across various sectors.
The Boeing India Distribution Center is the latest development in Boeing’s ventures in India, following substantial investments and agreements aimed at bolstering the growth of the civil aviation industry. These initiatives include a partnership with GMR Aero Technic to establish a Boeing Converted Freighter line in Hyderabad and the establishment of a Global Support Center in Gurgaon. Boeing has also committed a US$100 million investment in infrastructure and pilot training programs to address India’s growing demand for pilots over the next two decades.
