Emphasising the rapid pace of aviation sector, Uttar Pradesh is all set to become the first state in India to have 21 airports, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed on Wednesday.

“There has been ongoing infrastructural growth in land, water, and air sectors in the state. Uttar Pradesh is soon going to become the first state with 21 airports,” the Chief Minister informed the state assembly.

UP bolsters aviation infrastructure

The state has seen rapid growth of aviation infrastructure in the past 9 years, the Union Minister Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said in January last month and shared that Uttar Pradesh had only 6 airports in 2014, and now the state has 10 airports including the newly inaugurated airport in Ayodhya. 

By the next month, UP will have 5 more airports, one airport each in Azamgarh, Aligarh, Moradabad, Shravasti, and Chitrakoot. Apart from this, an international airport will also be ready in Jewar by the end of 2024, the Scindia informed in January 2024. 

Noida International Airport gets major chunk in UP Budget 

On Monday, the Uttar Pradesh government allocated Rs 1,150 crore for the upcoming Noida International Airport under Budget 2024-25.

“A provision of Rs 1,150 crore is proposed for the establishment of an international airport and the purchase of land in Jewar of Gautam Buddha Nagar district,” Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Suresh Kumar Khanna stated. 

Under phase one of the project, a total of 230 acres will be developed, which will include 75 acres (33%) of commercial and 155 acres (67 percent) of industrial area. The airport is expected to kickstart its commercial operations by the end of this year
