To bolster the construction and land acquisition process, the Uttar Pradesh government allocated Rs 1,150 crore for the upcoming Noida International Airport under Budget 2024-25.
The announcement was made by Finance Minister of Uttar Pradesh Suresh Kumar Khanna as he tabled the budget for the fiscal year in the state assembly on Monday.
“A provision of Rs 1,150 crore is proposed for the establishment of an international airport and the purchase of land in Jewar of Gautam Buddha Nagar district,” Khanna said.
The development for phase one of Noida International Airport is underway, which is scheduled to open for commercial operations by the end of this year.
Under phase one, a total of 230 acres will be developed, which will include 75 acres (33%) of commercial and 155 acres (67 percent) of industrial area.
Uttar Pradesh to get South Asia’s largest airport
Earlier in his budget speech, FM Suresh Khanna said that with the inauguration of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya, four international airports have become operational in the state and South Asia’s largest international airport is going to open soon in UP’s Jewar.
“With this, Uttar Pradesh will become the only state in India to have five international airports,” Khanna said.
The finance minister also noted that continuous efforts are being made to enhance air connectivity in the state and to achieve this objective, initiatives are being carried out under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS-UDAN) of the Centre and Civil Aviation Promotion Policy of the state government.
He said, there has been a 19.2 percent increase in the number of air travellers in the current financial year as compared to the last financial year.
For air connectivity, selected airports like Aligarh, Azamgarh, Moradabad, Shravasti and Chitrakoot have been developed. Development work of airports of Mayorpur (Sonbhadra) and Sarsawa (Saharanpur) is in progress, he further added.
Notably, a proposal of Rs 150 crore has been made for the expansion of Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in Ayodhya. Besides, Rs 1,100 crore has been proposed for construction, expansion, and strengthening of airstrips as well as land acquisition, the minister said.

The upcoming greenfield Noida International Airport will enhance connectivity to and from Delhi NCR, Noida and Western UP. The airport is a confluence of Swiss efficiency and Indian hospitality, and is envisioned to become India’s leading airport in terms of customer service, outstanding efficiency, digital services and commitment to minimal environmental impact.
The airport will provide a modern and seamless passenger experience as well as a broad range of commercial offerings for families with children, elderly travellers as well as the travelling business community.
The airport is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a 100% subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG, in close partnership with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the Government of India.
