Aiming to become Uttar Pradesh’s first schedule carrier, Shankh Air is looking to establish its primary hub at the upcoming Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar.
The airline, which is undergoing the NOC process, had a detailed discussion for a partnership to give strength to Uttar Pradesh’s initiative towards enhancing air connectivity.
“Shankh Air’s plan to hub at least 3 of the proposed Boeing 737-800NG aircraft in Noida. Shankh Air would like to start operating in multiple locations as discussed with NIA at length on creating new city pairs,” Carrier’s Chairman Sharvan Kumar Vishwakarma said after holding a meeting with NIA’s CEO, Christoph Schnellmann.
Shankh Air’s expansion plan
At present, the airline is undergoing the process of acquiring the No Objection Certification (NOC) from the Ministry of Civil Aviation. Meanwhile, Shankh Air has already announced that it shall be looking to build up a safe, sustainable, and reliable full-service carrier with new-generation aircraft.
Founded in 2023, the airline will be the first schedule airline to launch from the state of Uttar Pradesh. It will hub over Lucknow and Noida to facilitate connections to all major cities in India, as per Shankh Air’s website.
It is pertinent to note that the airline will operate both inter and intra state routes, especially focusing on cities with high demand and limited direct flight options
The carrier is bullish about working closely with the Noida International Airport to provide seamless connectivity to several airports in India.
Situated near the planned YEIDA city, the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar is India’s latest greenfield international airport, developed by Zurich International Airport. It is poised to serve as a key connection hub for Delhi NCR, providing convenient travel options for Greater Noida, Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Southern Gurgaon, Agra, and neighboring areas.
Once operational, DXN (IATA code for Noida International Airport) aims to replicate the global aviation ecosystems found in cities like New York, London, or Tokyo.
