A Patna-bound SpiceJet flight returned to Delhi shortly after take-off on Thursday after the crew suspected a technical glitch, ANI quoted the airline saying. The Boeing 737-8A aircraft was grounded for a comprehensive investigation after the crew noticed a possible technical issue mid-air.
An alternate flight was arranged
In an official statement, the airline said, ‘’On October 23, 2025, SpiceJet flight SG 497 operating from Delhi to Patna returned to Delhi after take off due to a technical glitch…an alternate aircraft was arranged to accommodate the passengers, which is now en route to Patna.’’ The plane made a normal landing, as reported by PTI.
Earlier incident reported on the Kandla-Mumbai route
In a separate incident reported last month, a SpiceJet Q400 operating between Kandla and Mumbai landed safely after one of its outer wheels was later found detached on the runway following departure. The aircraft continued its scheduled flight and touched down in Mumbai without any difficulty.
A SpiceJet spokesperson told ANI that the landing was uneventful, adding that the aircraft taxied to the terminal independently and passengers disembarked normally. Routine procedures were conducted once the aircraft reached the gate.
Details related to the number of passengers on board the flight have not been disclosed.
Earlier in September, SpiceJet declared a net loss of Rs 234 crore for the first quarter of FY26, reversing a profit of Rs 158 crore registered in the same quarter a year earlier. The airline revenue from earnings dropped 34% year-on year to Rs 1,120 crore in Q1 FY26, in comparison to Rs 1,708 crore in the corresponding period of FY25.
